Morgan Hollis is a music project centered on setting Scripture to sound.

Every piece of music released under this name is built directly from the biblical text, word for word. Lyrics are not paraphrased, reinterpreted, or adapted to fit a theme. The words remain as written, and the music is shaped around them.

While the words themselves are never altered, the musical form allows for repetition, spacing, and selective emphasis. Phrases may be repeated, lines may be broken into fragments, and verses may be reordered or revisited to serve the musical structure. No words are added, removed, or reworded. This approach reflects a long tradition of Scripture being sung, chanted, and meditated on, where repetition and musical shaping help listeners hear familiar text in a fresh way while remaining faithful to the original wording.

In some pieces, the music may also include non-lexical vocal sounds—such as sustained tones or brief expressions that carry no semantic meaning. These sounds function purely as musical texture and do not add to, replace, or modify the biblical text in any way. They are not treated as lyrics, and they are never used to introduce new ideas or commentary. The Scripture itself remains intact and unchanged, with any musical embellishment serving only to support the listening experience rather than alter the words or their meaning.

This project is not intended to explain the Bible. Scripture is not commented on or interpreted verbally within the music. At the same time, the work is shaped through musical framing—choices of tone, structure, emphasis, and atmosphere that reflect attentive engagement with the text. One conviction behind the project is that Scripture itself is living and active (Hebrews 4:12), capable of speaking for itself. The music seeks to carry it faithfully, allowing listeners to engage freely.

The project draws primarily from the World English Bible, a modern English translation that is in the public domain. This allows the text to be shared freely while remaining faithful to the structure and meaning of Scripture.

Musically, Morgan Hollis exists in the modern electronic space. The sound is intentionally contemporary, drawing from electronic, ambient, and melodic forms rather than traditional worship or church music styles. This is a deliberate choice. The aim is not to recreate familiar religious music, but to allow ancient words to exist within a modern sonic language.

Morgan Hollis is released as a body of work rather than as a personal platform. The focus is not on the identity of a performer, but on the relationship between text, sound, and listener. The hope is that the music can stand on its own, inviting attention, reflection, or contemplation—without requiring prior belief or background.
